KEVIN LIANG is a digital artist and novelist with a B.Design in Interdisciplinary Digital Studio. Raised in State College, Pennsylvania, Kevin is an extremely self-critical artist who is constantly questioning how he can improve the quality of his productions, the efficiency of his workflow, and what the ultimate purpose of his work is.

As a digital artist, Kevin is practiced in multiple forms of media, such as digital illustration, motion graphics, graphic design, cinematography, and 2D animation. Having engaged in various practices since his early teens, Kevin has developed a diverse set of skills he applies to all forms of production he creates. His professional interests lie in story writing for animated films, TV series, and games.

Kevin taught himself how to write stories before going to undergraduate school. His first story was a fan-novel based on a now discontinued game on the Apple App Store, in which Kevin extended the story past where the developers left off, incorporating prominent members within the game’s community into the story. Although the novel was never finished, it inspired his first completed work, Celestial (2014), a seventeen-hundred word mythological fiction. Kevin now publishes his writings every week on his personal blog, the Eighteenth Station. His undergraduate thesis for Penn State School of Visual Arts and Schreyer Honors College focused on combining the two mediums of writing and animation.

In 2017, he co-curated an exhibition titled Progression/Time, a multimedia gallery composed of three widescreen televisions each with a looping animation depicting different passages of time. The exhibit was displayed during the National Association of Schools of Art and Design (NASAD)’s visit to Penn State.

Other major projects Kevin has participated in is Pollinator Panic! (2017), an educational tool developed by a team of Penn State students to communicate the complexity of bee community dynamics and promote awareness for bee conservation. Kevin has also produced short animations for Minitab LLC's internal fitness campaign called the Global Bike Challenge (2018) and Global Fitness Challenge (2021/22), which spanned across all of its global offices.

At Penn State, Kevin was the Treasurer and Studio Manager for the Digital Media Group university club. As a studio manager, he was in charge of organizing and arranging the use of space provided for students in his major, as well as managing the equipment inventory, such as cameras, lenses, TVs, and cables.
